Self-service Business Intelligence Tools: Gartner Magic Quadrant Forecasts As Well As Forecasts – Today, I’m pleased to share that for the second year in a row, Microsoft has been placed farthest to the right for completeness of vision within the Leaders quadrant of Gartner’s 2017 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms—the 10th year in a row that Microsoft has positioned as a leader.

We are humbled by this recognition for the innovation we have delivered over the past year with Microsoft Power BI, including

Growth in both the vision axis and execution axis since the 2016 report. But, more importantly, we are encouraged by the progress we have made as a community in executing against the ambitious goal set when Power BI was made generally available a short time ago in July 2015: Offer BI to more people than ever before. , across all roles and disciplines within organizations.

How Self Service Analytical Tools Are Passing Traditional Bi

Power BI is the modern business intelligence solution you can bet on. We will continue to deliver innovation and value with precision and speed. The mantra that drives us is “five minutes to wow” – our relentless focus to enable a user to sign up for Power BI within five seconds and get business value from the service within five minutes. Customers around the world are realizing this vision and taking advantage of the promise of self-service BI by making it a reality on a massive scale.

This customer-centric approach extends to the regular development and ship cycles for Power BI. Since general availability, we’ve delivered a firehose of innovation with weekly updates to the service and monthly updates to the Power BI Desktop authoring tool. This cadence is driven by high-value community feedback – more than 200,000 active community participants who have submitted more than 6,000 ideas since July 2015 that have directly influenced the evolution of our product. We listen, evaluate and deliver for our community and are proud to do so. We could not have reached these heights without the support and feedback from our loyal user base.

With all this exciting innovation and incredible industry recognition behind us, we keep our foot on the gas to continue delivering on our “five minutes to wow” promise and bring the value of data insights to even more users. Thanks for being a part of our journey. We look forward to breaking more boundaries and moving the needle even further in data visualization and exploration.

If youare already a fan or are curious to learn more, I would like to invite you to join us in Seattle this June for the second annual Microsoft Data Insights Summit. The Top Business Intelligence Vendors For 2023

With companies collaborating, sharing insights, and striving to become increasingly customer-centric, the demand for these platforms is increasing.

Indeed, analytics and business intelligence solutions uncover emerging business trends and create a unified view of the customer experience.

However, there are many more components within such solutions. To understand each of these, take a look at how Gartner defines analytics and business intelligence platforms.

Best Business Intelligence Tools For 2022

Analytics and business intelligence (ABI) platforms make it much easier to “model, analyze, explore, share and manage data” for CX teams – according to Gartner.

AI is playing an increasingly critical role here, finding trends in data, pulling them together and automating insight delivery.

However, this only scratches the surface of the functionality of an ABI platform. The following 12 critical capabilities – as suggested by Gartner – underline this.

With superior know-how of those core ABI capabilities and a vision to drive customer success, leaders deliver a compelling pricing model that “supports proof of value.” In addition to this, they pave the way for phased purchases and increased scalability to meet the unique requirements of companies in various industries. This year’s leaders are:

Microsoft Positioned As A Leader In The Gartner 2021 Magic Quadrant For Analytics And Business Intelligence Platforms

In its adoption of users, Microsoft “dominates the market.” The growth of its Microsoft Power BI cloud service set this up, with the tech pioneer bundling the solution with other products in its deep portfolio. These include Office 365 and Teams – with the latter enabling improved knowledge sharing. Gartner applauds its alignment with these offerings—alongside Azure Synapse—and the value proposition they deliver. The analyst also noted “product ambition” as a core strength – again noting the integration with its broader portfolio – particularly Power Apps and Power Automate – as exciting innovation enablers.

With Tableau, Salesforce remains Microsoft’s closest competitor at the forefront of the market. The vendor has built a community of developers around this, who are helping to increase the adoption of the solution. Labeling this approach as “Tableau as a skill,” Gartner notes that this is a major plus—in addition to the visual analytics experience built into the system, which makes it easier to derive meaningful insights. Finally, researchers admired that Tableau had remained cloud, data source and application agnostic despite its Salesforce acquisition, allowing for greater composition.

Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS is an ABI platform that includes its Qlik Sense, AutoML and Application Automation solutions. The latter enables deeper analysis in business processes with a visual no-code approach. That makes its analytics much more composable than its competitors and is an inherent strength. Gartner notes this, in addition to Qlik’s cloud-agnostic approach and extensive data and analytics capabilities. After many acquisitions and a laser internal R&D focus, these capabilities support different business personas in gathering and evaluating relevant insights.

Grabbing the ABI market bull by its horns, challengers are delivering specific applications that are proven to deliver continuous business value. Nevertheless, some providers seem to follow leaders in the native integrations that bind functions in their portfolio. Instead, they may lag behind in their industry-specific innovation, geographic footprint and sales channels. This year’s challengers are:

Gartner Positions Tableau As “leader,

Google has made significant strides in unifying its BI tools over the past 12 months. Now it has assembled the Looker platform – combining Looker, Data Studio (now known as Looker Studio), and a LookML semantic layer. This layer is praised in the report for allowing companies to leverage the power of Google Sheets, Microsoft Power BI and Tableau in coordination with other tools in the Looker platform. Gartner also notes its decision support, workflow features, and further integrations with solutions in the Google Cloud Platform—including Dataproc, Dataprep, and Composer—as cornerstone strengths. However, some avoid the platform due to its predominant developer/data engineer focus.

Often a platform of choice for companies with a robust data warehouse foundation, Domo offers more than 1,000 data and application connectors – all of which are native. To support this, the vendor introduced the “Domo App Framework” to connect these, deploy BI in business workflows, and enable what-if analysis in a low-code environment. The example is one example of Domo driving innovation. Gartner praises the vendor for this, in addition to the scalability and multipersona support of its platform. Unfortunately, the analyst suggests that their third-party ecosystem is somewhat limited.

As it did in the Magic Quadrant of CCaaS, AWS is winning praise for the pricing model of its ABI platform Amazon QuickSight, which allows clients to pay per use. Moreover, its mature software development kits (SDKs) and APIs enable customers to develop sophisticated embedded analytics use cases. AWS further expanded the potential of this by increasing its investment in its serverless cloud BI service last year to enable complex applications that are less of a burden on the cloud infrastructure. Where AWS lags behind, however, is in its support services—which include end-user training.

MicroStrategy builds organically rather than acquiring code bases. This strategy has given them platform stability and “less buggy code”. That platform is also incredibly open, with an emphasis on interoperability that spans multiple clouds and enterprise application stacks. Gartner notes these two elements as key strengths, alongside MicroStrategy’s reputation for robust reporting and governance – which drives much of its enterprise business. However, the analysts believe that the vendor follows leaders in their increased analytics and lack of product differentiation.

Alibaba impresses with its integrated analytics approach. While its Quick BI platform is available as a standalone offering, it fits within the Alibaba LYDaaS portfolio, which provides modular and reusable data and analytics (D&A) capabilities. Gartner admires this approach alongside Alibaba’s digital workplace-oriented analytics and data literacy support programs. However, the vendor is highly linked to the Asia/Pacific region, where competition is growing. The analyst also noted its low market momentum and investment focus as areas of concern.
