Business Intelligence Tasks München – Artificial intelligence has long been a promising technology, and in many cases it has entered the mainstream – especially in large companies. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are also increasingly looking to follow this trend to stay competitive. However, the launch should be well planned and evaluated to avoid disappointment. A strong foundational awareness is an important pillar for this. In cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Applied AI initiative has developed a free online course on the topic “AI in Business and Economy” to specifically support SMEs in the application of AI.

Dr. Tel Klein, Senior Director of the Academy of Applied AI, and his team designed the online course specifically for individuals and companies who have had little or no interaction with AI before and want to understand its use cases and implications. Get an overview. Klein says: “We deliberately address AI beginners and the course focuses on the use of AI in areas and processes that we find in many companies, for example production, logistics, human resources, finance or marketing. ” says Klein. Benefit: Participants in these areas do not need to “engage” in technical terms, but learn how AI can create added value in their familiar environment. This awareness is important for tackling their own AI projects.

ApplyAI has a vision of bringing Germany into the age of AI, and in doing so, medium-sized enterprises play a key role. AI application can be viewed as a journey with different stages and phases. “We want to help companies take the first step, actively deal with AI and get first-hand experience. AI is also a team sport and no longer just a subject for technicians. The organization, from management to The domain ranges from the department to the individual business processes in which AI is used,” says Klein. “Of course, AI specialists play a central role in this, but so do the teams that deploy the systems in the organization or use them later.

The online course aims to inspire as many participants as possible with AI and encourage them to actively manage the changes that come with this technology – not only in their own company or department, but also as individuals. as Especially in times of crisis, companies can invest in their workforce by offering free training.

Module 1 deals with the question of why AI should be dealt with. We see the potential for “creative destruction” of AI, i.e. AI often displaces an existing solution or product. A discussion of global competition in relation to AI helps to categorize the current situation in Germany and Europe. A selection of technology trends in the field of AI provides a careful overview.

In Module 2 we understand how and where AI is already being used in companies. There are specific course sections on the use of AI in finance, marketing and sales, human resources, manufacturing, logistics, research and development. This part is very interesting. We see many “impact areas”, i.e. areas within the function where AI is particularly suitable, for example quality assurance.

Module 3 deals with the risks that arise when using AI. This is an obstacle for some companies, because they want to prevent a possible loss, but do not know what is happening. We show what can be the causes of unwanted behavior of AI systems (eg data) and what effects it can have (eg bias). We also discuss the current debate on AI regulation at the European level.

Module 4 deals with the impact of AI on the workplace. We look at the labor market as a whole, but also the impact on jobs and jobs. Using different job profiles, we explore the interaction between man and machine and explain how AI teams can be deployed in organizations.

The course is currently available in German and English and is completely free. Successful graduates will receive a certificate!
